I was thinking last night, and then this morning again, about the similarities between Titian, who revolutionized painting with his broken colors, dirtying up his colors, moving away from the pure, clear hues of the Flemish masters, and myself. Cause that's what I do, man. Mix blue and orange.

Hah, but I read this item and it's brilliant art metaphor...
Bravo, I am uplifted, and yet, blue and orange make brown don't they? I hate the color brown.
Posted by: paul at December 22, 2004 08:54 PMteknikullee, if you do a derrida you get blu + red + yella (my wife is from georgia so she says urnch, not orange), pigmentwise, so pigmentwise back into the subtractive color pile you get gray. shades of gray, mig. the color palette of the working man's life.
Posted by: chewybrain at December 22, 2004 09:12 PMJust being posh, you know, mentioning artists and stuff. When I first made the post, I spelled Titian "Tizian" which is how it's spelled in German.
I just think, art has to undermine itself. It has to include the seeds of its own destruction. You have to mix a little of the secondary color with the primary color. Mix too much and you get brown, or black. But break it just a little.
Posted by: mig at December 23, 2004 04:59 AMblue and orange are the best.
Posted by: kay at December 24, 2004 01:20 AMi wonder if there are artists that paint in such a way to hold that destructive power over their works. "i know this still looks okay but if i wanted to i could really fuck you up. i'll make you think chartreuse is gold, you'll be so ugly."
